Start with actual protein per serving
Compare the stated grams of protein per labeled serving, the number of gummies required, the protein source and the full Supplement Facts or Nutrition Facts panel. A small gummy count does not by itself mean a high-protein serving.
Compare against food, bars and shakes
Greek yogurt, eggs, beans, shakes and protein bars can provide different amounts of protein, fiber and calories. Consider convenience, taste, portability, total cost and the quantity you realistically need.
Check the full formula
Look for added caffeine, sugar alcohols, sweeteners, allergens and serving directions. Do not assume every protein gummy is caffeine-free or suitable for children.
Velq's prelaunch format
Velq is developing strawberry protein + prebiotic fiber gummies in individual packets. The planned formula targets 20g protein per pack; this is a development target, not a verified final label. Final ingredients, testing and serving directions may change.
A simple way to compare labels
Use the same unit for every product: one complete labeled serving. Record protein grams, serving size, number of pieces, calories, total and added sugars, fiber, allergens and price. If the package gives a range or a front-label claim without a full facts panel, mark that value as unverified instead of treating it as comparable.
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Protein grams per serving | Lets you compare the actual amount, not a marketing phrase or a per-piece figure. |
| Protein source and allergens | Shows what the product is made from and whether it fits your needs. |
| Serving size and pieces | Reveals how many gummies make up the stated serving. |
| Cost per serving | Use package price divided by complete servings; compare like-for-like. |
| Sugars and sweeteners | Check both the Nutrition Facts panel and ingredient list. Do not infer “zero sugar” from the gummy format. |
When gummies may not be the best fit
Gummies can be portable and require no mixing, but a serving may require several pieces and provide less protein than a shake or bar. Whole foods such as yogurt, eggs, tofu, beans or edamame can also contribute protein and other nutrients. Compare the amount you need, convenience, taste, dietary fit and cost rather than assuming one format is superior.
What to verify before buying
Look for a complete, current label, clear serving directions, manufacturer contact details and any applicable quality or testing information. Check whether caffeine, sugar alcohols, common allergens or other active ingredients are present. For a new supplement, ask a qualified clinician or pharmacist if you have a condition, take medication, are pregnant, or have specific dietary needs.
Velq is prelaunch. Its planned 20g protein per packet is a development target, not a verified final label; no purchase is available yet. Final formula, serving directions and nutrition facts may change.
Questions to ask before choosing
- What does one complete serving provide?
- Is the full ingredient and nutrition label available?
- What is the cost per serving?
- Does the product contain caffeine or ingredients I need to avoid?
- Are the claims supported by verified final packaging?
Protein source matters as much as the number
Protein labels may list whey, milk, soy, pea, collagen or blends. These ingredients do not always have the same essential amino-acid profile, and grams on the front of the pack alone do not establish equivalence for a particular goal. Read the ingredients and any allergen statement. When the source is unclear, request the current complete label rather than assuming all protein gummies are nutritionally identical.
The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements explains the role of protein and essential amino acids in exercise nutrition. This is general context, not an endorsement of a gummy brand.
How to compare the actual cost
Calculate package price ÷ labeled servings before comparing products. For a fictional $24 pack with eight full servings, each serving costs $3. If the hypothetical serving contains 6 g protein, that is $0.50 per gram of listed protein. Compare ingredient sources and food alternatives as well; a lower price per gram does not automatically make a product better.

How this guide was prepared
Updated October 14, 2026. Velq Editorial prepared this educational checklist from publicly available nutrition-label guidance and nutrition references. Velq has a commercial interest in functional gummies. We have not independently laboratory-tested the products discussed, verified a finished Velq label, or arranged a clinical review of this article. Unknown product-specific quantities remain unverified.
