Cost per serving calculator

Compare two package prices against their complete labeled servings. See the arithmetic for protein and fiber value, then check the ingredients and directions that the numbers cannot explain.

Start with both labels. Fields marked * are required. Your entered values stay in your browser. Calculations do not establish ingredient quality or recommend a dose.

PRODUCT A

Use values from the same full labeled serving. Leave unreported values blank. Enter 0 only if the label says 0. For “less than” values such as <1 g, leave the number blank.

PRODUCT B

Use values from the same full labeled serving. Leave unreported values blank. Enter 0 only if the label says 0. For “less than” values such as <1 g, leave the number blank.

Enter the required values for both products to compare their labels.

See the cost calculation

Compare whole packages using the same currency and one complete labeled serving. Check the nutrient amount separately before comparing standardized costs.

Fictional product A: 24 dollars divided by 12 servings equals 2 dollars per serving. Product B: 30 dollars divided by 30 servings equals 1 dollar per serving.
These fictional prices match the worked example below. A provides 10 g protein and 5 g fiber per serving, making each standardized cost $2. B provides 8 g protein and 4 g fiber, making the cost per 10 g protein or 5 g fiber $1.25. These are price calculations, not quality ratings or serving recommendations. How the value math works

Cost per serving = package price ÷ labeled servings
Cost per 10 g protein = serving cost × 10 ÷ protein grams
Cost per 5 g fiber = serving cost × 5 ÷ fiber grams
  1. Enter the price you would actually pay for the whole package. Include shipping or tax consistently for both products, or exclude both.
  2. Use the servings-per-container count for that package and the nutrients for that same serving.
  3. Use the same currency. These results are displayed in USD; the tool does not convert currencies.
  4. After comparing cost, review the protein source, fiber ingredient, allergens, sweeteners, and directions separately.

Cost per 10 g protein or 5 g fiber is a standardized price calculation. It is not a suggested portion or number of servings to take.

A worked example

Fictional product A costs $24 for 12 labeled servings: $24 ÷ 12 = $2 per serving. With 10 g protein and 5 g fiber per serving, each standardized cost is $2.

Fictional product B costs $30 for 30 servings: $30 ÷ 30 = $1 per serving. With 8 g protein and 4 g fiber per serving, the cost per 10 g protein and per 5 g fiber is $1.25 each.

Price alone cannot identify a better product

These formulas do not test nutrient quality, ingredient safety, effectiveness, or suitability. A free package can have a zero cost; a product with zero labeled fiber cannot have a meaningful cost per 5 g fiber. Both cases are handled separately.
